We only have 3 females at any given time and just felt that it was still feasible to use a stud from another breeder... Well that was until I fell in LOVE with a certain Texan :) Fingers crossed that all goes well and he can become the man of the house soon! Don't want to jinx anything so I'm going to keep the details pretty close for now :)Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/40326622016-02-09T11:09:54-08:002022-01-19T03:28:51-08:00I might be crazy! Here at Strait Layne we usually have 2 or 3 litters per year and that in itself is a lot of work BUT it seems all 3 girls have started their heat cycles within a week of each other! I am trying to get a quality female to keep for myself which will help me insure the quality of our breeding program in the future so we have decided to breed all 3 girls this time. One litter requires a lot of time and effort on the part of the breeder but 3 at the same time???... I might need my head examined :) I keep reminding myself that I love this breed!Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/37051732015-05-12T13:08:53-07:002023-12-10T09:05:17-08:00Good gracious it's been a while!Well I'm going to blame my absence in blogging on the push on social media. It seems like Facebook has taken over the Biewer world too! I promise to do better :) Well the new female in town is coming into heat and we are excited about what she will produce for us. We got her as an adult and the pictures of the litter she had got us excited about adding her to our breeding program! We will have 2 litters in 2015. Both coming in late July early August. I will keep the site update and not rely on Facebook to keep everyone informed. In the mean time, please keep me in your prayers... My son (the baby of the family) will graduate in about a week and then my daughter's wedding is June 27th! I'm an emotional wreck (in a good sort of way)! Until next time :)Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/25013422014-01-31T13:05:48-08:002023-03-03T02:00:46-08:00January 31, 2014Reflections... I was just thinking how many really wonderful people I have met through this sweet little breed we call Biewers. Some have bought puppies from me, I've bought puppies from them, and some are just friends that have a common interest. For example... Danny and I met Diana and John in Buckhead, GA last weekend (I think we meet there so that we can actually see how the other half of society lives LOL) to take Summer and Autumn to them. It is somewhere around 1/2 way between our houses. I was hoping to see Hoku again as we love that boy but they decided to bond with the girls on the trip and let the chaos begin once they got home. We even stopped in to visit with them on our way to St Augustine last summer. I encourage new families to visit us and our home when it is feasible so they can get a glimpse of what their new babies life like so far :) I also keep in touch with families that have Strait Layne babies through email and Facebook. What a neat tool we have that lets us take a peek ever so often of the sweet puppies we have placed with the hopes that they will live happily ever after with their new people! I have a small circle of Biewer confidants that are near and dear to me but I have so enjoyed meeting so many different people with so many different stories to share!
SPEAKING OF STORIES TO SHARE~
I am about to pop waiting to share my news... There is a new gal in town! Her name is Prada and I am grateful to Deb Billings of Windsong Biewers for allowing Prada to be added to the Strait Layne breeding program. We have 2 females now... Millie and Prada. Our favorite stud is "Aubie" Hearts and Harps of Windsong who is owned by Dr. Maben and Mrs. Julie Thompson of Crossville, TN. Looking forward to some exciting things for us in the future!Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/13506512013-08-07T07:36:14-07:002022-09-20T10:00:25-07:00Hey Jude!Jude has stolen my heart! Due to unforeseen circumstances he has ended up staying with us a little longer than usual and I just love him. His face reminds me so much of his sire Ez. He eyes are almost mezmerizing. It has been and will be quiet a feat to get him to his new home but I am so excited for the Dutton Family and thankful that they decided to love a Strait Layne Puppy!Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/555132012-10-07T09:27:02-07:002023-12-10T09:05:30-08:00Quiet Day at Home
Wow it has been a long time since I've "blogged". I am not very good at this task... maybe it is because I'm so random in my thoughts and I just can't compose enough information that flows together to get a blog going :) With everyone gone from home but me today I thought I'd sit down and watch a little football! For those of you that know me, you can atest that behind God and my family (including my sweet doggies) FOOTBALL ranks pretty high on my list of enjoyables :) Well today I'm not finding it so enjoyable... Locker is out, Hasselbeck is struggling and the Titans as a team seem so disconnected. Excuse my while I pout :(
Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/672402012-06-20T04:16:18-07:002022-05-21T07:07:21-07:00On The Receiving End :):)I have always cherished that first moment when a new family meets their puppy for the first time... I am usually on the giving end of that situation but I still just get silly at that first meeting. Well on our way back from vacation this year I decided to stop in and meet a puppy I had watch grow in pictures and really really liked from the first time I saw her... All six of us got out of the Suburban to take a peek at this little girl! That was all it took!... meeting her and seeing what a nice representation of the Biewer breed she was and............. WE BROUGHT HER HOME WITH US!!!! I just love her to pieces. I will post pics of her soon! We call her Millie :):) Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/1688172012-05-16T02:14:07-07:002021-09-09T00:57:26-07:00She's a jewel...I got a phone call last night from a heartbroken Biewer Mommy in tears. She made a great first impression when I met her and I knew right away that she had nothing but that little guys best interest at heart. Due to her work schedule and things beyond her control she has come to the realization that her being away so much just isn't fair to him. This could be a sad story to tell but instead it brings a smile to my face... She loves him so much that she is allowing him to bless another family of dog lovers that will be able to spend more time with him and already loves him to pieces. Most of the time what is best in a situation takes us down a road we never even knew we'd travel. Kelly...he is incredibly lucky that you came into his life and will continue to be loved and cared for by his new family! BIG HUGS my friend... you have precious heart!... The next time you are in Nashville give me a call and Mercedes and I will join you for another Wrangler sightseeing adventures :):)Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/1572382012-04-13T06:05:58-07:002023-12-10T08:52:22-08:00!Construction Zone - Hard Hat Needed! So we broke down and build a doggie suite in our home:) My husband has wanted to do this for over a year before one of us (kids included) broke our neck trying get over the baby gate between our family room and the kitchen! So we decided to divide our family room in half (it was HUGE) and use one end of it for the Biewers to have their own room to play in when we weren't watching them and to sleep in. Gasp... I know it is terrible but my other half refuses to have them in the bed with us. On any of the rest of the furniture he doesn't care one bit but not in the bed :(... So now we have our regular living room, a family room, and our Biewer suite/Sewing room! Still trying to get it decorated appropriately but I'm working on it!! Spring is upon us and we are so excited! Love the warm weather in the south! Puppies should be here late May!Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/1398872012-02-13T01:57:29-08:002023-12-10T11:30:08-08:00The New YearWell I have to say I have met the nicest people while trying to find new homes for our D and E litters! I hope we've made friendships that will endure... Amy, Nelda, Kathy, Kelly, Cindy, and Diana thank you for your interest in Biewers and thank you most of all for choosing to love a Strait Layne Puppy! You could have choosen any other breeder and you trusted me enough to get your new baby from us! Thank you again!Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/1308982011-12-29T13:01:07-08:002021-10-22T22:58:36-07:00A Really Good Feeling...I had the nicest visit with 2 young ladies tonight. They were sisters and came to spend time with the puppies to see if one of the remaining four would steal their heart. They had done their homework and really knew what questions to ask and had educated themselves about Biewers in general. That is so refreshing to me! They hadn't just rushed to buy the first puppies they found that looked cute in a picture... not real spontaneous... they were able to make an informed decision! They chose Ellie! I love it when I am confident in a family's ability to care for and love a puppy!

Lucy has found her new mommy too and I am so excited for them to actually meet in person! She is such a little spitfire and is so much fun! A precious little girly!

Mia has also found her new mommy! She will be going to an established breeder whom I have all the confidence in the world in... and she'll be shown to her fullest potential I know!

Thank you ladies for allowing Strait Layne Biewers to be a part of what makes you smile!Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/1262682011-12-02T03:58:15-08:002023-12-10T08:46:12-08:00OH I'M WAY BEHIND!Well as I suppose everyone can tell Josie had her puppies too! They are beautiful with dark saddles and lots of color on their faces. There were born in the wee hours of the next morning after Lacie's were born in the wee morning hours... If that makes any sense at all. I've had lots of calls about the puppies and one has found her new home I'm almost positive. Update soon I promise!

They are all coming into their individual personalities and that is my favorite part! My least favorite part is the potty patrol. But they aren't to messy! Banjo received his 3 orange cards at the IABCA show in Missouri on the 18th-19th so he is now a National Champion. Well he is as soon as I get all the paperwork/fees submitted and receive his title in the mail. I love that little fella so!

Anyway, LOTS going on at Strait Layne... not only with Biewers but with the Holidays TOO :)!

Until next time...!Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/1205682011-10-28T02:48:05-07:002022-01-04T09:55:09-08:00Lacie's A New Mommy!Lacie has 4 beautiful babies this morning! Love Love Love their coloring! 3 girls and 1 boy... Unfortunately one little boy didn't make it. He struggled from birth and just wasn't strong enough to hold on. Lacie and the 4 remaining puppies are doing well and waiting for their playmates to arrive. Crossing our fingers that everything goes well for Josie also!Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/1192332011-10-19T06:50:00-07:002022-04-14T00:28:46-07:00OH MY!So the girls went to see the Good Doctor yesterday. In the past we've had 3 litters with a total of 6 puppies over the last 2 years. We were totally shocked when we were told there were a total of 9... yes 9 puppies... just wiggling around and waiting to make their entrance into this world! We were thinking 4 or maybe 5 at the most... Whew... What a shocker? I know what I want for Christmas!!! Volunteers for Puppy Patrol! Both girls are over their pregnancies and ready to get those puppers delivered :)... Me? ... I'm not so sure!Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/1149862011-09-19T03:00:18-07:002022-01-26T10:17:22-08:00It's Been A While
The last month we've been pretty preoccupied with Cavalier Football! That's a good thing though because our "favorite freshmen" is doing great and loving every minute on the field. Josie, Lacie, EZ, and Banjo are all doing well. I have to say that Banjo is just awesome! We are soooooooo please with how he is maturing. He had a couple retained puppy teeth pulled last week and as usual Upper Cumberland Vet Clinic took great care of him! We are keeping our fingers and toes crossed for the upcoming litters. It is still a little early to determine 100% that they are indeed expecting but we are putting our eggs in the "Positive Thinking" basket :) EZ is a man of few words (and we're glad) but he seems to love his new home and we couldn't be happier with him! I promise to do better with the frequency of the blog :)

Oh I almost logged out without mentioning this past weekend and the beautiful wedding we attended in Southwest Virginia at the Karlan Mansion! Kendra and John... my you live happily ever after :)
Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/1096832011-08-19T01:29:05-07:002022-05-23T01:23:21-07:00How Blessed We Find OurselvesSo I finally got to meet (in person) Sharon and Ray Elliott from Biewer Terrier Blessings in Oklahoma! Sharon and I have grown really close the past several years via electronic means but I cannot tell you how happy I am that our families finally got to sit down to dinner and just visit! She and Ray are a wonderful people and we are blessed to be in their circle!! Have gotten update pics of Gianna (aka Cali) and Caroline recently and both girls are looking great doing just fine! Nothing makes us happier than that!

Miss Josie and EZ spent a little time together last night ;)... gonna be busy on Strait Layne this fall!
Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/1091432011-08-15T14:08:48-07:002022-04-22T01:57:18-07:00KEEPING OUR FINGERS CROSSED
Well after bathing the girlies tonight I noticed both are showing the first signs of their heat cycle. Keeping our fingers crossed for a successful breeding for both girls. As of now EZ will be the sire of both litters. I will keep everyone updated on the site about how things are going :) If both litters are successful it will be our D and E litters. We should start thinking now of names. Of course my daughter has no trouble at all coming up with names!
It seems like it has turned cooler over night which is a good thing because 100+ degree days are not too fun even if you stay in the pool all day! And we all know what comes with cooler weather... THE BOYS OF FALL! We all love football around here... Watched the Titans first preseason game Saturday night and was THRILLED at their performance! Locker and Hasselbeck both looked great! Can't wait for the season to start~

GO TITANS!

Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/1074582011-08-01T01:40:50-07:002023-12-10T11:39:48-08:00Whew....... Well July is over and it seems like it went in the blink of any eye! So excited about this coming weekend... If all goes well, I will FINALLY get to meet a very dear friend of mine IN PERSON! I know that sounds crazy but I have grown so close to this wonderful lady! It seems like we've been friends forever and if I just didn't know better I'd think we went to lunch every week. Instead we've just communicated via the computer and telephone for the last several years and gotten to know each other via technology :) The Biewers are all doing great. Lacie's coat in almost grown out again thank goodness (I cannot believe I cut her down to begin with...). Banjo is coming into himself and is going to be a beautiful male! Love love love him! Josie is just Josie! She the Queen of the house and is at all shy in letting you know it. She will come into heat soon so we are looking forward to puppies in the fall. EZ is... well just easy! He is so sweet and has just fit in so well in our home. My husband and children weren't so sure that a "stud" dog should have to wear a Sesame Street diaper around the house but it honestly makes life so much easier for us and keeps him out of trouble!

Beautiful day today in Tennessee... and I'm off to work :( Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/1048332011-07-05T08:30:00-07:002021-12-04T05:28:43-08:00Cali Girl:)... What a weekend!Okay let me just say if first impressions are everything then Cali's new mommy has that down pat! Annette was a doll! She is just the sweetest lady I think I've ever met! Honestly! She had the biggest smile on her face when she saw Cali and Cali warmed right up to her which made me happy. Cali will be spoiled rotten and loved more than I could have ever dreamed. Thank you all for choosing Cali!

After we left the airport we drove north and picked up Mr. EZ... I've added a couple of pics to our site that Cindy had of him and shared with me before I brought him to Strait Layne. I haven't gotten to take any myself but it is on my To Do List. He is an awesome boy. He is so well mannered and has the most beautiful face I think I've ever seen on a Biewer. Thank you again Cindy for allowing us to bring him to the south! Cindy @ Signature Biewers is such a sweet gal! She was nothing but nice to us and so welcoming even when we called and needed to come Saturday night instead of Sunday morning. Her Biewers were just beautiful and so well behaved! Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/1042252011-06-29T06:52:38-07:002022-03-17T05:57:46-07:00Yipee!Got an email from Caroline's mommy and she says that Caroline is adjusting well! She got a good report from her visit to the vet and she is being a good girl for her new family! That makes me smile!Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/1039312011-06-26T09:30:09-07:002022-04-21T03:32:34-07:00Caroline Sweet Caroline :)
Caroline's new family came to pick her up today and what a sweet sweet couple they were!! Her 4-legged sister Lexie didn't look so sure about taking this little girl with them but she will love her too in no time :) I love to see a new family prepared for their puppy and they were more than prepared... right down to Lexie's tee shirt that said "Big Sister" in pink letters across her back! To the Schaffers... Have a safe trip home and Godspeed to you always! I hope Caroline gives you lots of love and brings a smile to your faces often!!
Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/1033562011-06-20T03:00:00-07:002020-11-13T22:48:48-08:00Bittersweet...What a fun weekend we had here at Strait Layne!! We snuck in some pool time in between the down pours and had a great Father's Day meal last night right off the grill! Father's Day is bittersweet for me. I have a wonderful husband and I couldn't ask for a better father for my children. But I still have a void that nothing will ever fill... My Daddy was the most caring, soft spoken man I had ever known. He left this world August 14, 2000 at the age of 52. I hope that I can be half the influence on my children that my daddy was to his children... Never met a stranger and always had a kind word.

The Biewer world lost a great advocate this weekend with the passing of Joyce U of Showtime Biewers. Bless her family and I hope they can find comfort and peace in her courage.Strait Layne Biewerstag:straitlaynebiewers.com,2005:Post/1026972011-06-13T07:25:29-07:002020-09-05T03:48:37-07:00Banjo ManWell Bieweroo was a blast! Thanks Ladies for spending time at our home!... Oh and I forgot about the Director of Trans for the "Dog Broad Express" ~ he was such a trooper! We have come to the decision that (drum roll please.................) we will be keeping Banjo as a Stud Muffin here at Strait Layne. That was the original plan, Plan B didn't pan out... so we are excited that he will remain here with us. Watch for him in the show ring soon! At 14 weeks old he is a wonderful example of a Biewer and what we are striving for here so it only make sense to keep him! We will more than likely be adding a mature male to our program to use while we wait for Banjo to become a MAN!

CMA Fest is going on in Nashville, TN and Bonaroo is going on in Manchester, TN!... Two different worlds! For those of you who don't know what Bonaroo is... look it up! It's like a modern day Woodstock! Anyway we are having BIEWEROO at Strait Layne this afternoon. Unlike Bonaroo no one will get arrested and no one will be wondering around looking for their tent! Wish us luck! Pics to follow soon!

Cali will be headed to her new mommy and daddy soon. Thank you Annette and Scott for letting us become a small part of your lives!

Caroline's new mommy and daddy are driving a LONG way to pick her up soon and take her home to her big sister Lexi!

Until my mind churns again... Have a great Friday!
